Signia Federal Credit Union serves the soldiers and families of Schofield Barracks, an Army base on Oahu. With one branch, a small team, and 16 ATMs across Garrison Hawaii, the credit union needed an ATM partner that could do the work its staff could not. In this video, President and CEO Ron Aoki tells why Signia moved its ATM fleet to NextBranch in 2023 and what has changed since.
Serving Soldiers in an Island Community
Most soldiers who arrive in Hawaii already bank with another financial institution. Signia serves them for the time they are stationed on the island. Aoki says the credit union must “make sure that we’re doing what we need to do as best we can to serve the men and women that serve our country.”
Reliable access to cash is a large part of that service. But with a small team, Signia did not have the people to manage 16 ATMs. “We don’t have the manpower or the staff to be able to run an ATM fleet,” Aoki says.
Why Signia Changed ATM Vendors
Signia started its relationship with NextBranch in 2022 and began the transition from its previous vendor in 2023. The reason for the change was the level of service. Signia needed a partner that could support all of its ATMs.
Daily Status Updates and Same-Day Service
Each morning, the NextBranch team sends Signia an email with the status of its ATMs. If there is an open ticket, NextBranch tells the credit union when the issue will be resolved. Most service issues are resolved the same day. If a repair takes longer, NextBranch continues to give updates and an estimated time to resolve it.
“It gives us that peace of mind to know that they are monitoring all of the ATMs that we have,” Aoki says.
A Partner That Understands What Matters
Aoki says that NextBranch showed “a genuine desire to understand what was important to us” from the start, and then took steps to make sure those needs were met.
